Collection: Burns Night and More...
Burn's night is always fun for me. I like to ceilidh and I enjoy haggis.
It also reminds me of my grandparents and their romance. My grandfather used to recite 'My love is like a red, red rose!', Burns famous love poem, to my grandmother. My grandmother loved her personal lore, and being a Scot!
Burn's in My Life
I celebrate Burn's Night (Jan 25th) where ever I am in the world. My favourite Burns Night was a small gathering in New York in the village.
The national monument to Robert Burn's enjoys the grandest vista in Edinburgh. It sits at the crossroad between Regent Road and Regent terrace, with a view of Arthur's Seat and the turrets of the Holyrood Palace.
When you walk up Regent Road, you are travelling on the A1, the longest road in Britain. It ends at Waterloo Place.
When this road was carved into the hillside, it was chosen to impress. When people travelled from London, their first sight of Edinburgh was this beautiful volcanic landscape.
My collection of photographs tell the story of the location of the monument and opens your mind to a Scottish aesthetic.
Enjoy our city and the incomprehensible poetry of Burns, Sharon
