Why Choose The Peg Gallery?
The old shops on St Mary’s Street stretch from the street to the garden in the back. It's a unique way to live and work, and a place you can find your own inspiration. Our pop-up gallery changes through the year, and we have work benches, meeting spaces, and a gallery area that opens up to a private garden where you can walk around and muse on your ideas.
Or take a break from your class and explore the shops, café, restaurants and bars of the Canongate, a part of the high street beyond the old city wall that is filled with creative small businesses and the people who run them.
You can stop in and enjoy the conviviality of old Edinburgh and its traditional pubs before you traverse the Artisan Wynd of St Mary's and Jeffery's St to get lunch or buy a new outfit and meet the designer and craftsman in their ateliers. You'll discover small boutique stores on the street where you can shop for couture, punk fashion, or a traditional kilt outfit. There are lots of small high-end restaurants for you to enjoy before or after your class. If you need some pampering, treat yourself to a little me time at the barbershop or hairdressers.
